My name is Andy Freeland. I decided to go back to school after my undergraduate degree did nothing for me.
After a guided tour by one the instructors at Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) I immediately knew where I wanted to enroll. The horticulture wing of DCTC was amazing. The lab area, greenhouse, and industry-related materials were enough for me to want to start right away so I went directly to admissions and requested the necessary information to get the ball rolling.
After a short period of time I was accepted and granted financial aid. The financial relief helped greatly as it allowed me put all of my attention into the course material. Of course it is like any other school, demanding and rigorous, but the skills that come from it will allow any determined student to get out and either start their own business or find a great job in their related industry emphasis.
I chose to focus on landscape design, rather than that of nursery skills or construction, but I do recommend being knowledgeable at all of them as it will allow one to have a step up on the competition when graduation nears. With time and a strong work ethic anybody can succeed with the guiding hands of the horticulture program at DCTC.
