Nursery and Landscape sales have topped $2.1 billion a year and the industry needs an additional 2,200 full-time and 3,200 part-time employees.
At DCTC, you can learn what it takes to become successful in the Landscape and Horticulture industry.
Each year Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) recognizes outstanding graduates in honor of the college’s former president, Dave Schroeder, who served from 1970-1999. Students are nominated by faculty and staff for their involvement and participation at the college, academic performance and service to the community.
Cindy Egan, Landscape/Horticulture Cindy graduated from College of DuPage in Illinois in 1987, and is completing her studies in the College’s Landscape Horticulture AAS degree program.
Cindy has served as the Vice President of the DCTC Student Senate, and in that capacity, has helped organized both the biennial Blood Drive and the annual Car Show. As a past President of the Student Horticulture Club, Cindy has been a tireless volunteer for the group’s numerous fundraising events on campus. She is also a member of the industry’s professional organization, PLANET, and has participated in that association’s Student Career Days. Her service to the greater community includes participation in the new Pine Bend Science and Nature Area’s buckthorn eradication effort. Cindy plans to continue her educational pursuits in horticulture through the University of Minnesota’s Master Gardener Program.
